Default new lifters with head swap??

i read a similar post today suggesting changing lifters if doing a head swap. i already have a tr230 cam in, and i have a set of heads on the way. i got the lifters out now while i clean up the block. my car has 40k miles on it. why is it suggested to change lifters? and if so, to what?

Jamie:

"why is it suggested to change lifters?"

Peace of mind knowing you have brand new ones in there.

Also as Cstraub has pointed out many times before, a new cam will wear well on new lifters vs. a new cam wearing on old lifters. Kind of like new pads, new rotors? Make sense?

If you can afford it, get the Morels, top notch but hard to find.
