Default Heads/Cam LS1 to LS7 upgrade...is it worth it?

Okay guys heres my situation...I've currently got an LS1 in my Camaro Z...heads/cam...true dual exhaust...long tubes...430/395 etc etc...and so far it's been a great car. Full drag suspension has put me into the low 11s, and I seem to have hit a plateau. I've been thinking of my next modification, and an opportunity has arose for me today that I'd like to jump on...

I can swap out my current LS1 block for a LS7 w/ long tubes and mild cam...my question is basicly, is it worth it? I should put out much closer to the 500hp mark, if not higher...and will be a much more streetable car IMO.

What are your opinions on this swap, I'm very close to pulling the trigger...

There are cheaper and easier ways to get to 500 HP. You'll need more than just a block swap. I assume you mean long block but still, you'll need a new ECM, wiring harness, etc.

Are you talking about a full-blown LS7 swap? How much are you getting the parts for?

Yeah full blown...and I'd rather not release any details but It's about $5k for the swap w/ my motor. And yes its a full long block LS7...I believe future modifications will be much more worthwhile with the 427 under my hood

I'm not too concerned with the other small parts that need be changed, as the company I've got doing it for me will handle everything to make it work. Its a very well known company out of chicago - they'd just rather I don't release any info just yet.

I'd say go for it at that price. The LS7 already puts down more than you have now and with headers, it'll make even more. Plus, you are just a cam swap away from another 80-100rwhp.

thats what I'm thinking...personally I think the potential should be much more, aside from the 5k upfront to modify this LS7 in the future

And always a bonus is the streetability of this car w/ the LS7 compared to now...I think its good anyway I look at it.
