Stock Pan or Other?

Stock Pan or Other?
I was considering an aftermarket pan for my car mainly because of like the idea of having the trap door for better oil control. From what I have read the stock pan is a structural part of of the LS1 block. Will going to a pan other than stock weaken the block?
I have listed a couple of pics from Speed inc. The Moroso pan looks pretty beefy I don't really feel the same about the Canton tho. Are there other pans for the LS1 other than these? I have looked and not really found anything.
For those that have used a pan other than stock where did you mount your remote filter and how well did it fit in the F bod.?
Thanks

On Gen III/IV engines the oil pan is considered an integral part of the engine block. Anytime you replace it with an aftermarket unit, you chance compromising that strength. The Canton pan has been out a while and I haven't heard of anyone using it. The Moroso looks beefier, but once again very little (if any) information on long term durability.
What is your application? Road racing, drag racing, street? The OEM pan is pretty good from the factory. I would call Jason at Katech (sponsor here) for information. Katech has tested every OEM engine part of the LS1'Gen III/IV platform for durability under grueling conditions for themselves and GM. They know exactly what are the weak parts for high-performance applications. Give them a call or send him a PM here.

I'd keep the stock pan and add one extra quart of oil above the "full" line. The block is very deep and lots of road racers add a quart. I also run an extra quart.
Save the money, it's not a needed mod. Very few (none that I can remember) LS1's have ever had an oil starvation issue, even the autoX'ers (I know a couple in my area)

As far as application all of the above. I want as much all around performance as possible. Hopefully be receiving my new engine soon which will be equipped with billet main caps and will be a MID block. I have heard of running 1qt extra oil and had planned on doing this. I will have a lot tied up in this engine and thought if an aftermarket pan was rigid enough the trap door baffles would add a little insurance.
Thanks
