Default Who is using 50 weight oil? Come on in!!

What engine? Any oil consumption?

Reason I ask is because I initially put 30 weight in my new 408, burned 1.5 quarts in 1100 miles. Put in 40 weight and still burning oil but not as quickly. I am trying to determine if it would be appropriate to put 50 weight oil in. FFHP didnt give me a build sheet but said the clearances were probably pretty loose.

If the clearances were "probably pretty loose" then why the hell did they send you the engine? Thats pretty f'ed up if you ask me.

I agree with Haans, you should be able to run M1 5w-30 (somewhat thin) without any problems.

It's not unusual for strokers to have looser tolerances compared to a stock block.

Try 5 quarts of 10w-30 and 1 quart of 20w-50 (6 quarts total).

Could this issue possibly be the valve seals? I did have TSP upgrade the AFR 225 valve springs to PRC springs prior to shipping them. Maybe they didnt replace the seals and just resused the old ones.

15-w50 here. LS6 motor, with 3qt accusump and oil cooler. 10 1/2 qts, change evey two weekends on the track.

No problems. But then all it sees is a road course.
