Default ls1 block vs. ls6 block

does anyone know what the difference between the blocks on the ls6 compared to the ls1? is it really worth looking for one of the 01-02 cars that have this?

From what I got, the only difference is the "bay windows"

There is absolutely no difference in power. Pretty much bragging rights.

Might want to look through the whole FAQ section, helped me a great deal to get a handle on things.

well aside from the blocks... if you do have an ls6 you essentially have the ls6 heads. obviously 243's have been proven to flow and put up better numbers compared to 241's or 853's...

I thought if you had 241 stamped on the side of your heads , it was LS6 heads

Those are LS1 heads. 243s are the LS6 heads. My car has the LS6 block with the 241 (LS1) heads. Altho I have heard rumors of f-bodies coming with 243 heads.

The only way I know of a f body coming with 243 heads were warranty work was done on the motor. There was a time when GM was short on LS1 blocks and if you had your car in for a motor swap they just sent a LS6 long block. Other than that I dont know. But that did happen to the few lucky peeps out there.
