TSP-MS3 Cam(opinion needed)
Hey guys, I have been doing a little bit of research and I am contemplating on getting the MS3 cam. The only thing that I'm wondering about is the idle. I want a cam with a nice healthy lope that sounds GOOD. I love the specs on the MS3, but since the lowest that you can get is a 113 LSA, I dunno if it will lope enough for me. I have listened to some clips, but those don't give you the full idea. I've heard the Tqr V2 cam in person, and that was NOT enough lope for me. Although, that car was speed density tuned, and doesn't that tame down the cam a little?? How do you think the MS3 will idle compared to the Tqr V2??? Thanks guys.

I can tell you, the MS3 has an awesome lope and it pulls exteremely hard especially up top. I speak from experience when I say that its a great cam for a cam only setup.

Mine is on a 112 LSA just tell comp you want the TSP MS3 they have it since they grind the cam for them just say the only thing you want different is a 112. Mine sounds great and idles very choppy. And as for daily driveability its fine.

I dont have any sound clips but I could try and get some somehow just never uploaded any sounds b4 so i would have to look into it. I payed 379.99 for the camshaft I had Speed Inc order it for me since I had them do the install but I deal sirectly with Larry he is the mgr there and I told him I wanted the MS3 and I gave him the numbers but I gave him 112 LSA so he called comp said they grind for tsp so he got the valve events from them and all and had it shipped and they put it in. The car sounds great I get more compliments then I did with my 98Z that had a 4000 dollar paint job on it. Go figure. As for how the car runs on that LSA mine went 12.12 with the conveter that wont lock up and 2.73 gears on COMPLETLY STOCK suspension not even LCa or sub frames and on a street tire. I am also running the 918 cc springs Comp told speed inc those springs will be fine for the cam and I guess they would know since they ground the cam. If your interested I can see if there is a part number on the box.

Your exhaust is a factor to what your cam will sound like, the MS3 on a 113 will hit hard with true duals dumped. You need to shift this cam at 6800-7000 in order to get best results, that is one thing alot of people overlook.

All you would need is rod bolts.
I'm sure my stock cam would peak around 5.5k ? I shift at 6000-6200 for best results. If i shifted at 5800, shortly after my peak, I guarantee you I would turn in lousy times. Your car might not be making more power by holding the rpm's later, but you will be starting off in the next gear with alot more power, because your rpm will be higher in the next gear.

i just happened to trip upon this thread and I'm wondering why you guys are saying you are shifting only at 6300 with a big cam like a MS3, when on my stock '05 GTO the redline/shift points are 6500. when it comes down to it, all I have is 364 cubes "243" casting heads, '01 Z06 cam grind (stock) and LS2 "specific" intake/TB stock.
from what I see, the MS3 should be shifted at 7000-7200

the shifting at 6000-6200rpm statement was about shifting with stock cam......
