LQ9 vs. LQ4+cam?

LQ9 vs. LQ4+cam?
Hi, first post here. But I have a quick question. I am currently choosing a motor for an offroad project. I was pretty set on an LQ9 and keeping it stock for the time being. But what are your thoughts on an LQ4 + a cam+springs, etc? A decent cam would put the LQ4 motor in the HP/tq range of the LQ9. And as you guys know, the LQ4 is much more available and consequently ~$1000 cheaper. I know the only difference between these motors are the pistons and the resulting C/R.
Which one of the two options would you choose keeping cost in consideration? Or would it better to just the the slightly more expensive LQ9 run that stock and have more room to upgrade later?
Regardless of the choice the motor will be running the UMI harness and Delphi computer.
Thanks in advance guys

I think you should get the LQ4. With the $1000 you save get some cheap stock LS2 heads ($400) which will bump the compresion up to the same or even a little higher than the LQ9. Then you can sell your LQ4 heads for $300 to someone going turbo. Now your still up $900. If you still want more go for the cam with the left over money. H/C LQ4 for the same price as a stock LQ9...
