Default tr224 with LS6 springs??

Who all is runnin the tr224 112 or 114 with ls6 springs, this is what i was planning to do till i read somewere that 918s were recomended. I know its close to the max lift of the ls6 springs, but i figured i was good. I have seen a couple people runnin it with ls6 springs and just wanted to get the go ahead on it from someone that knew there **** just to be on the safe side.

thanks
Jon

I would go at least 918s if I were you, I stepped it up to the patriot gold duals from the 918s on a 224/224 .581.581

Get a set of patriot gold duals from Billy at TRT, $240 shipped for the complete set with titanium retainers, keepers, springs, and spring seats. That is a hell of a deal. Only good till the end of the month though so you better get em quick!

918's will work fine for that cam. If you plan to go bigger later, might as well get something better now though.

How much does your motor mean to you? Don't skimp on cheap springs as you won't save anything in the long run when a spring lets go and your valves smack the piston and destroy it along with the head. It could also possibly hurt the cylinder liner and require a new shortblock. Spend $150 for a set of 918's and sleep well at night. JMHO

LS6 springs will work if they are shimmed to increase their seat pressure capabilities, but that in turn reduces their lifespan.
918's are the ticket, I would not run duals with that cam of .563 lift (overkill).

Does it float the valves up high?

How are these springs set up? Did you just drop them in?

That is a LPE cam and their ramp rate (agressiveness) is much lower than TR lobes.
Ramp rate affects more than lift on spring life.

The reason I was asking is because I have a 221/221 (.559) on the shelf in my closet.

I don't know how aggressive the ramp is but it does not float and I shift at 6500 RPM.

I'd say go for 918s. I got a brand new set for $140 shipped off of E-Bay.
