Default what are the best heads for...

im going to be running a cam over .610 lift, what are some of the better heads out to take advantage of such a big cam? I like the pricetag of the Edelbrock heads, but im not sure if they support such a large cam. AFR's are way too expensive...but any advice would be great.

A good head for the money that you should look into is the Dart 225. This would be better for a large cam.

Patrick G has always had awesome success with his high lift cams and his small bore AFR 225s. A lot of other guys have had success with AFR. They get my vote.

The Edelbrock heads are about the same price as AFR FWIW.

What bore size will your engine be? We have a CNC ported Edelbrock head that has a 245cc intake runner and 66 or 74cc chamber to fit 4.0" bores. It's designed for very modded LS2's or stroker 402+ engines. The heads have stock valve locations and use stock length valves. You can use stock rocker gear with these heads. The valve sizes are 2.080/1.60". These are not the heads CNC'd by Edelbrock. They're our own design. Feel free to call us with any questions.

As mentioned previously, if you're looking for exceptional flow in the .600"+ range, the small bore AFR 225s are hard to beat. Mine exceeded 300cfm at .550" lift and that was in milled 59cc form on a 3.900" bore fixture. The numbers in my signature were produced with a short duration cam and a less than optimized exhaust. The heads are worth the extra money.
