Default would an ls6 cam run w/ stock tuning?

i am switching out my hotcam for a more boost friendly cam, and i was wondering if the car would run with stock tuning and an ls6 cam. i'm going to be putting on an sts kit soon, but until then i need my car to run so then i can just go and get everything tuned a once. thanks for the info!

Just about ANYTHING will "RUN" on a stock tune. Whether or not you can drive it is something else.

But with that cam, you will be fine as stated above

You'll be golden with the ls6 cam, are you going with the pre-02 or 02+ cam? I looked for a while for an 02+ ls6 cam, but found an excellent deal on the stealth II (224/220 @ .050, .581/.581 lift on a 116LSA). The car will run much better than the hotcam without a tune, the hotcam seems to surge a fair amount until properly tuned, but the ls6 with it's much higher lsa and less overall overlap will run great. Good luck on your boosted project!

It will work fine on the stock tune, although it would help to have the rev limiter moved up to 6600 or so.

Mine did pick up 3 tenths and 3.5 mph after I tuned it, so if would definately be worth it to do some tuning down the road.

I used to have an 02 LS6 cam with no tuning and it ran like stock. Tuning on the LS6 cam is not necessary but recommended if you want to get the most out of it.
