can I re-use my old oil pump and timing chain
Just ordered the tsp 233/239 camshaft install kit form tsp. I also ordered the gasket kit. Just wondering if I should buy the ls6 ported oil pump and ls2 timing chain? The car has low mileage(just turned 40k)and is driven less than 2000 miles a year(weekend warrior). My oil pressure stays at 40 plus and I have no problem with oil consumption. Im thinking because of that plus with the low mileage put on it each year that I should be all right but just wanted to get some other opinions.

Yea if you gona change the chain might as well change the pump while your in there, Its really up to you, make sure you use a new O ring seal with the oil pump and make sure it seating correctly .

"You would probably be fine using the oil pump again but I'd say to at least pick up an LS2 chain just b/c it's beefier and cheap insurance."
Because of there relationship im going to either do both the ls2 timing chain and ported ls6 oil pump or do neither. I just hate spending time and money replacing parts that probably would do the job just fine. Or maybe im just a little cheap and lazy.

I reused the stock parts with my 231/231. Car had about 62,000 mi at time of swap. No problems to report yet (64k with pretty much just track time and distance to and from). If I had to do it over again I probably would have changed them both, just for insurance purposes.
