450hp may put you in front of a stock C6 Z06 at the track. On the street or from a roll he will probably still get you.
Not to mention 450 out of a stock cubed A4 is no easy task.

Tell me about it,
certainly not $3000
See, it is not only a matter of HP but more of TRQ. Combine that with Vette lightweight and those are killers.

Not trying to sound cocky or anything, but if money is no option, 3 k will barely cover heads and cam. Like the guys said before, 450 is no match for the new zo6. Bryan is building me a killer with the best you can buy, we'll have to see what it does. Sorry about the damper on your parade. :

I made 478/565 with stock heads and cam - you just need to match the parts right and keep the torque high.

With my set up : 1 win by a bumper and too many losses. I think you would need a lot closer to 500 rwhp to consistently win. After my final phase on my car with LG in 2007 or early 2008, the final engine mods and tune will be done, handling, and some other stuff will be upgraded. Should be at 500 - 505 rwhp and 440 rwtq. That may not be enough. Those C6 ZO6's are insane. I know I definately need to ditch the EMT's for something stickier and lighter. Do yourself a favor as well, show up on fumes to keep the weight down, and hope the Z is full. Good luck. If my final mods don't get me out front, then I'll be forced to spray. Again Good Luck !!

If you saw this first hand, you may have seen a poor driver in a new ZO6 because they have WAY WAY more potential stock than the C5 Z06.

I've seen the new ones run 11.5's, and they certainly seemed to be bone stock. I know that would dust me for sure. With heads, a little weight reduction, and some driver mod power (meaning someone else in the driver's seat, in my case!), I might be in the same league at least.

My car put down 470/427lbs to the wheels in the hottest weather ever with loads of knock retard (too friggin hot). A/F is now 12.8:1 and I plan on running one this weekend, if I do I'll post the results.

Also, let me point out there's a local guy with an LS6 cam and 241 heads in a '99 SS that's dipped into the 11s (that would be less power than a LS6 and more weight).
If the record LS6 car runs 11.7s, I can guarantee you there are plenty other vettes at his heels. Also, keep in mind biggdogg's generalization did not dictate a "stock" corvette. He left that field wide open.
Gauge, as for not being a "particularly good driver" those ZO6 drivers must have been a worse driver or were not really racing you.
