Default Use my 5.3 heads or save for AFR's

Bought some very nice used Patriot 5.3 heads and a cam for less than $1000.

However, I wanted to know if I should just save up and get the AFR 205's or a different set of heads, to get maximum horsepower?

I really dont want to have to swap the heads that much..kinda want to do it once and thats it...

Car: 2002 SS m6, full bolt ons, MS3, 90/90, 4 10's LT's, etc etc, it is a weekend warrior with some occasional track when im bored on a friday!

tell me your opinions...
THANKS

Are you willing to take the hit on the 5.3s or not?

I would run 5.3 heads on an all motor set up, I would just get them ported some more. If you are running nitrous I would start saving.

I will run nitrous evertually prob a 100 shot for the track.....
Will I benefit more from the AFR's on spray?
I would sell the 5.3 heads at a GREAT price to help pay for the AFR's....
Or possibly trade for a new clutch or nitrous system....dunno yet
need more answers

Hey Erik, you know I say go with the AFR 205 milled to 59 cc, but you could always invest in your current heads and get them ported out match the AFR's flow. Don't know if they can match the Velocity of the mixture that AFR has, but good luck. If money isn't an issue, go with AFR. If you are counting your pennies, save the 5.3's and have the port work done.

Hey Doug, good to hear from ya! Glad to see others are voting as well...
I think I will rethink this...and sell the 5.3's....

Then start over....by the way....I have the MS3 cam now...but may be too big for what I want to do...

Cool
Erik

With that MS3 you will have to pick between running the heads unmilled or flycutting the pistons.

PRC Terminators match up well with the MS3. Slightly cheaper than the AFRs and with the 62cc chambers, you'll have a bump in compression without the need to flycut.

it seems like the LS6 ported heads flow better than the PRC heads....
I guess the advantage is in the 62 CC chambers on the PRC's?
