Default I blew my junk up last month and its almost ready again

Im on a hella budget, so when I bent some valves I decided to replace my heads with some ls2 heads and throw in a hotcam. My other mods are listed below, but my concern is that the hotcam may have more bark than bite. Ive heard so many dog and so many support it on the boards that Im wondering if I will be able to notice a differance....other than exhaust tone. Anyone running a similar setup to what I have? I would love to get some input on it. The only thing Im waiting on is for my heads to arrive in the mail. Then Im off to see the wizard. Also, what kind of head gasket should I use to help get the most bang for the buck. Thanks ninjas.

GM 6.0 MLS head gaskets are your best bet. The hotcam will have a noticeable diff but it certainly won't be anything to write home about. Let me know if you want/need any help or just someone to shoot the **** with since I'm pretty close to your neck of the woods

Similar set-up to yours. My original hp/tq numbers were a little inflated, and on a stock stall. I'll have new numbers on Saturday.

Definitely a noticeable difference, but my only other experience was with the stock cam.

Like Arctic said, I used GM MLS gaskets.

Yea, 4.000" bore so you need the 4.000" bore gaskets so you don't shroud the chamber on the heads.

The LS1 block has a 3.898 bore and the 6.0 heads have a 4.000" chamber for a 4.000" bore. So, if you used the stock 3.900" head gaskets with a head that has a 4.000" chamber, then the chamber would be shrouded/obstructed by the smaller diameter head gasket.

Yea, just go ask for head gaskets for the LQ9 or LS2 engine, either one will work. If they need an actual vehicle model I just ask for the 02+ escalade head gaskets. Or you could ask for the '05+ GTO head gaskets as they use the LS2 engine. etc.

Cool, thanks for the info. I hope to be running by the end of the month and plan on getting a tune done. Have you heard anything about fbody central? They seem to be the only place around.

I've not only heard about them but have had some not so great experiences with them. You can try them if you like, a good amount of people say decent things about them, but another good amount of people have had bad experiences like I have as well. I use PSI in Glen Burnie, MD. PM me and I'll give you the name/number.

The MLS gaskets are cheap and easy to use.
