how to build a 6.0L
hey guys, i'm thinking about starting another project and was wondering what is the best way to build a 6.0L truck block, and what is the best head work to do. i'm kinda on a budget here and am looking for around 400-450 ponies.

If you only want 400-450 just run bolt ons, heads, cam and an intake setup on your LS1. That would be NO problem.
However, if you must...
I think your best bet would be to get a low mile shortblock to build, or rebuild a cheap shortblock. You could run some Patriot 6.0l heads, they are a little over $1k with dual springs. Look around the for sale section and try and catch a Trex, MS3, or other 235+ sized cam. You could run an LS6 intake (I think) or you could spend about the same and run a single plane Vic Jr. That's budget and should hit 450hp no problem.
If I were to do it, I'd have to go all out. Rebuild shortblock, try my best to talk myself out of stroking it to 408, forged Diamond pistons, Callies connecting rods, ARP everything, new fuel system, ETP heads, 90/90 or single plane intake, boost cam, and, oh why not, a D1SC. That could get you around 2x your goals.

for a 4" bore, that new l92 setup looks promising. Its like 1250-ish for intake, 90mm throttle body, fuel rails and injectors, and heads that flow ~330. Id look for a smallish cam with a wide standard split to compensate for the enormous intake valves. Just another option for you...
