Default Cam Suggestions.

I am looking to get a cam I am looking for a distinct sound like this but this is an everyday driver so I cant sacrifice a whole lot of driveability. Does anybody have any suggestions. Right now I have a vortech (I know what your thinking but it was FREE ) I am thinking probably Hooker or Magnaflow catback with a cutout on stock everything.

Driveability will depend on how good your tuner is. I have a pretty big cam, a 232/238, but it idles great, has good driveability, and sounds wicked. Here is a clip:

If that sounds like its too much cam for you then id say go with something smaller, say something like a futural motorsports F10 or F11 or say maybe a TR228 cam.

Yea as you can see from the video it idles great and honestly besides a little minor bucking/surging when your like rolling around in first gear in like parking lots it drives like stock. Mine was a custom grind cam but its a 232/238 with over .600 lift on both the intake and exhaust and is on a 112lsa. The futural F13 is a litte smaller than my cam so it will idle even better and is a real good cam for both driveability and power. To make the most though out of a cam you will need at least mid-length headers, like the macs I have or the new pacesetter 1 5/8th mid lengths and then id run an ory and magnaflow. Thats my setup and as you can see its fairly tame at idle but when you go WOT it screams.

Lower the ICL or add some advance with the cam above and it might even make more low end power. Phil what are the specs on that 228 288? I see it's on 114, but is that 114+4 or just stright up? Basically I'm asking what the ICL is.

My cam is excellant, my tune was done great, and my milage is still fine. This is a nice setup, and you'll get some nice power.

98Z, take those cats off, the Magnaflow will really sound aggresive. My Lunati is smaller than yours, and I have alot more of a chop and rumble, those cats make a big difference in sound.

Cats are actually gutted so they are straight through, what exhaust are you running.
