Default CNC LS6 heads leak in runner

Well I got my motor back from the machine shop put it in. Drove the car 200 mi
Noticed one morning that the exhaust was very smokey. I then let it clear out. Pressure tested the radiator and started car and alot of white smoke. Pulled intake and #8 intake was full of water.
I called my builder and he is getting me a new head. No charge. I'm taking the whole motor back to him to check everything out. I think the rod bearing might have gotten beat up. or damaged the crank. or washed the cylinder.

Is this a common problem with the CNC heads. And who is going to be responsiable for other damage (if any)?

M2 race systems heads
Eagle 3.90 stroke rotator
JE pistons

What do you guys think?

Did they provide the heads and build the motor? If yes, they are clearly responsible for any and all failures and damage.

Yea he provided the heads and assembled the complete engine, covers and all. I hope he takes care of everything. I put alot of money into it.

Even worse it was scheduled to be dyno tuned tomorow.

We have a CNC program that we have probably run into 500 sets of 5.3 and 5.7 heads, one head leaked from an exhaust port and the wall wasn't even thin at that point. So stuff does happen, and I'm sure your builder will take care of it for you, just as we did for our customer.

M2 Race Systems does great CNC work, too. (They did Absolute Speed's CNC'ing) I am sure that Ron @ M2 will treat you right.

I dont think there is a M2 anymore. You probably will have to look at other avenues. Those stock heads are usually pretty consistant, but we find that one in about 30 heads usually have at least a little pinhole, some do right from the factory and you wouldn't even know it. believe it or not, factory heads have a tolerance on how much they can leak, instead of not leaking at all.

You can pressure check em and thats about it. Even then you have thermal issues once the engine is up and runnin a few times and everything is heat cycled. Factory castings are what they are, core shift didnt only just exist in the '60s either. Ive even seen trash in the castings in spots before. Youve also got to understand that its modified parts and sometimes thats racin. Everyone is pushin the edge farther and farther to get all that can be got and theres a tipover point on a head thats durable enough for a drag race engine but not for a DD.

M2 is alive and well. You can easily find them if you do a quick googlesearch for "M2 Race Systems Heads". I would directly link it here, but since they are not a sponsor....I won't.

Do I need to look at diffrent heads then? It's not my daily driver but its not a race car either. and I do understand there are always issues with this kind of stuff. I'm thinking I am lucky im droping the motor again. I get to do more to the motor!!!!
