Default What cam to go with my AFR 205's

I already have a F4 226/226 575/575 114lsa cam which is a good cam. Since Nick Williams and Bob added the AFR's 61cc with cosmetic gaskets, fast 90 with NW 90mm tb, Kooks LTs with cats, flycut the pistons and some killer tuning making 422rwhp and 395rwt it gets me thinking how much more do I want lol. Car runs great and is a blast to drive. I was thinking of going bigger(so was Nick) but what's a good streetable cam where I wouldn't have to switch rear gears to have a good midrange powerband. Nick's already mentioned the G5X2 and 3. Thanks for any help

G5x3 is one I would consider.

F14 or TSP Torquer, no flycutting required.

Comp Cams now offers LSK lobes witch are very aggersive. The cam you have is a good bro. Your are making outstanding streetable power. Im sure you havnt lost a street race yet. Just save your money have fun with your car and you money. Unless you into braking your enging down and putting it back to gether and tuning it over and over. But anyways you have a badass setup bro good luck on you build up. Take a look at Comp Cams LSK lobes.

There is a guy on here, I believe his screenname is allgn_C5, who runs 205s with the G5X3 cam. He made something along the lines of 460/420ish. I know it is more than that, but that is a ballpark figure. That is with a 78mm intake NOT a 90/90.

Termn8or (his video's made the MS3 cam famous), just swapped to an MS4 cam, 90/90 intake setup and PRC Terminator 200cc heads and made in the neighborhood of 480-90ish hp with a torque number over 430 I believe. The MS4 is probably going to be only slightly larger than the G5X3, however, it will be on the LSK lobes. I would think that the MS4 with your 205s would absolutely rock the **** out of anything you lined up next to on the street.

An MS4 will not clear AFR 205s without a flycut. As far as I know, Termin8r is still running the MS3 with the 200cc TSP Terminator heads (and yes, his pistons are flycut).

Best cam for 205s depends on how much streetability you're willing to give up. If you run LSK lobes, there's diminishing returns once you go past a 235 @ .050" lobe. Anything past that doesn't help you as much as it hurts you.

For XE-R lobes, the G5X-3 is about the best out there unless you go custom. I happen to be very fond of the cam in my signature. It would make comparable power with AFR 205s (even though I have 225s).

Yea sorry, my bad, Termn8or is running the MS3. However, the thread starter already has his pistons flycut so the MS4 should fit under there! Patrick's cam would probably be a great option if you want to stay somewhat tame compared to the MS4.

the terminator car does not have fly cutting done....i know, i worked on his car when he did the head swap. We just set the heads up to run with the MS3...and as far as i am aware, he's still on an MS3, at least we didnt put one in.

I know Termn8or didn't flycut with the MS3, and from everything he posts, he still has the MS3 and plans to keep it. I typed MS4 on accident earlier when discussing his setup.

The original poster of this thread should not need to flycut with the AFR 205s and the MS4 cam because according to him, the recent work he had done included flycutting.

Black Bullet, the C6 has the LS2, meaning more cubes and thus more power. I still think the TRak is a good choice, but someone with an LS1 shouldn't expect 470hp with it and 205s.

look back on the thread because there are a couple just like this thread. Im sure Tony will jump in soon, but I think I remember him saying that the 228R on a 114 is about as big as he would go to have a safety range. But read back because I saw the thread in the last couple days.

I'd get a custom 4 degree split <232 duration on a tight LSA, keep the power down in a useable range.

For midrange power, Patrick G's cam is pretty impressive. 350tq at 3000rpms!
