Question beehive works with T-rex?

Hi
a friend of mine has a 1998 m6 trans am and just bought the T-rex cam (or T-rx) you know the one with the duration in the 240`s and +600 lift ....

we know the gold spring kit from patriot will work but is there a diret replacement springs (beehive) from comp cams that is cheaper and only requairs the springs to be changed? I read that the comp 918 is up to 600 lift but I read somewhere theres one that is up to 625 lift will it work
and anybody knows them?

and only change the springs with stock retainer and stock valvelocks and it works?

wich path do you think is best patriot kit or beehive if possable for driveability and long trouble free period of use mostly street driving?

a second sub question is will the stock pushrods work or it`s a must to change to hi performance ones to handle the extra load

change pushrods, go w/ a good dual setup like patriot, prc, or comp 921's.
918's might (big might) be able to control a T-rex, but you would need tit. retainers for the rpm's that cam needs to turn. you would also have to shim the 918's to w/ in .05 of coil bind to stand a chance of not floating valves. but I wouldn't even consider doing this on my car.

What the two above said, although i would definatly go with the Patriot dual springs

Like they siad change pushrods aswell, i have the TR 7.4's with my T-rex

And springs are not going to make this cam a tame street cam, i have it and its not that bad to drive after you get used to but still somewhat a PITA, and if you a still on stock gearing it will be damn near impossible

From what I have heard, the Trex loves gears more in the 4.10-4.56 range or even higher.

Or you could look at the PSI springs that are also sold as Toolroom springs by Isky. These are beehive springs, nitrided and with a stiffness that is comparible to the Comp 921's. Lift good to 0.625 if correctly set up. These are the springs that come with the Dart heads, and there were a few sets for sale in the parts section with titanium retainers.

Go duals and dont look back. You can get patriot duals for so cheap. thevve got the Ti retainers already. Why take the chance for a few extra bucks. I wouldnt be the least bit surprised if you get some valve float with the 918's especially since youll have to spin the rex up so damn high.

Im still on stock lifters, but he should really consider a regear with that cam, i've got a 9" with 4.56 and it still feels like there is no TQ in low RPM's
