Default Is 500 RWHP doable on a stock LS1 bottom end?

Looking to start putting together a combo for a buddy of mine. He is looking to make 500 RWHP in his 02 SS 6 speed car. We know longtubes, tru duals, a 12 bolt, etc is in order to handle and make this kind of power, but he wants to do it on motor. The car will be a weekend driver with some passes at the track, so he not neccessary looking for peak numbers, but a nice hp/tq curve. In the searching I've done, it looks like AFR's are sweet heads and there are plenty of proven cams, and of course the car will be dyno tuned.

Do any sponsers offer a solid 500 rwhp h/c package? If not what is a solid combo I can start looking at? Can an LS6 intake and ported TB work at 500 rwhp or does he have to step up to a FAST 90/90? What is needed injector wise?

Thanks,

Doug D

Search is your friend. 500 rwhp can be done with a stock displacement 346, but it won't be easy or cheap. The more streetable approach is through additional cubes. The LS2 with a 4" stroke yields 402 cubic inches and is one of the most affordable ways to get 500 rwhp in a streetable combo. Just add some good heads, a healthy cam and better breathing in and out. Still plan on spending $10k for everything though.

Oh I am searching.

It is looking like some people are making those numbers on stock cubes, but it isn't common. Looks like the more realistic numbers for heads/cam is in the 470 range.

Hmmmm, stroker, it's not my money

You can not bore out a stock block with out hurting the sleaves. Do what Patric G said and get you a ls2 and put a 4 in crank in it.

Remember a motor can only move so much air if you restericted then you will make that much less power. Why build a bad *** motor and limit your hp because of a stock TB or an LS6 intake. Do your self and him a faver and get the LSX intake.

As for injector get some 42lbs and a 255 intank pump and you will have plenty of fuel.

I'm hoping to hit over 500RWHP here in a couple weeks with my setup. Electric WP and a new tune should get me there with the mods in sig.

I just responded to a thread like this a couple of days ago. This combo should hit 500rwhp or near it, although this is very expensive as apposed to a cam + 100 shot. As in you can save $3500+, by not buying the heads, intake, water pump. And spend $3500 for a forged shortblock and then get nitrous.

AFR 205's 59cc, G5x4, ported FAST 90/90, electric water pump, pulley, 85mm MAF, QTP 1 3/4 HVMC Longtubes + dumped exhaust.
