Default How many times have you bounced off the revlimiter?

just curious how many times people have bounced off the revlimiters in ls1 cars and never broken anything, and if you did break something doing this what was it?

i thought the rev limiter was in place so you don't over rev and break something?

I've bounced my rev limiter a lot. And, it's set at 6,900 rpm. I wouldn't worry too much about hitting the stock one.

Hit it a couple of times but never mechanically overrevved it.

SLVR_99-Z...the rev limiter will not save you if you mechanically overev. What I mean is causing the engine to spin higher than redline by forcing it to do so via the drivetrain. For example, shifting 3-2 on the track/street at the top of the tach and forcing the engine to overev too high. This isn't like just slamming the gas in neutral and bouncing off the limiter. That'll save you a bit in that instance but in real life a mechanical overrev will never be helped by your limiter in the computer.

When I first put 4.10's in I was on the damn thing all the time in 1st gear. It almost seemed like the tach was alittle behind. Now that I am used to them I never hit it anymore.

I bang the rev limiter more than a worn out screen door. (No, that's not what I was gonna put! )

I was having some shift point issues for a while and I was hitting it bad and often on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I finally got them dialed in though so I only hit it when I spin really bad.

I hit mine ALOT. I dont have a working tach, stupid *** me. I paid for it by rebuilding my engine due to a spun rod bearing. I dont know it thats what caused it or the fact its a 98 block.

I missed a shift after taking my car out of the garage for the winter, and broke a pushrod completely in half, never seen that done before, good thing the stock push rods are so crappy or else I would have probably broken a valve.

I've hit the rev limiter twice in my car. Once before the cam, once after ... both times though the clutch was thrown in and I was off the gas before it actually "bounced" ... so I've never really bounced it off the limiter.

Hit it once, didn't realize how slow this tach was.

No, there is definitely some lag in the stock one. My shift light goes off in 1st gear and 2nd gear a few hundred rpm before the stock tach says its doing 6300 or whatever I've got my light set to go off at.

Same here. My tach seems slower, especially when I hook at the track. It's off about 700rpms actually. It sucks

I hit the rev limiter EVERY time I launch my car at the track.

Revlimiter a.k.a. "factory 2-step"

I've hit mine many times. The stock tach really lags behind. I'd guess about 400 rpms behind what the engine is turning.
