Default Busted Crane 144832 dual springs

My motor developed a tick and started missing at 6K rpms. I thought maybe a collapsed lifter but when I started to tear the motor apart, I didn't have to go too far. I found 3 busted inner springs and 1 busted outer spring (3 pieces) which most likely was the ticking sound. I have yet to remove the springs but what do you think my chances of having a bent valve are? Has anyone else broke these? They had about 9K hard miles on them.

If I remember right, they're supposedly rated for .650 lift right? Im running these too, and I wish I waited for the 833's, which fixed a lot of the harmonic issues of the 832's. Anyway, Im not sure about the valves TBH, I was more making sure they were rated fr .650 and not just .600.

They are rated for 0.650 at an installed height of 1.800, and what was your installed height? If you are lower than 1.800 installed, than the lift capabilities decrease.

I'm not sure but the heads were done at patriot and I'm sure they went by the specs.

Can't disagree there.

Awful odd though, these springs have been pretty solid for quite a few years. How is your oil pressure?

To check for bent valves, replace the bad springs and do a compression check.

Your valves are probably OK. I recently broke a Manley single coil spring and piston was hitting intake valve loudly for about a half mile before cutting motor off, the intake valve was only slightly bent when head was pulled and checked. Valve seat was OK but I replaced bent valve.

I've seen them break with a Cam like your's but the customer over revved the motor by holding it floored on the rev limiter. You need to replace all of them.We switched them to PRC springs and haven't had an issue since.

A buddy of mine broke these springs because they wernt shimmed, and the pressures wernt up to the task. He replaced teh springs and shimmed .030 and hasnt had a problem since.
