Default The right cam for me

After talking with a few people i think i have decided on a cam that will fit my buget for now (or a little later) that i wont have to do a lot of other major mods. I can't really afford all the other parts that you have to get with major cams, and also it is said that the auto tranny (4L60E) wont handle over 400hp before it has to be rebuilt so i chose this milder cam and i am for sure going to have headers and cut-outs before the cam or maybe all at the same time. But i just wanted some other opions and wondered if anyone had a cam like this. Anyways...heres the cam:

Thanks, Joel

P.S. Summit racings Tech support told me that the biggest left i can go without have to change anything else was .530

i dont know why thye would tell you u can't go bigger than .540 theres guys on here with .640+ cams on stock heads, stock cube LS1s, all u need is new valve springs and pushrods which come with a cam package, def go bigger than that

I would check with sponsor/Speed Engineering(Sean) they just ran a sale on Comp Cams. That sounds kind of pricey... I would go just a bit bigger gotta make the pain worth the gain!!!

i talked to a guy at a local speedshop that knows a guy at comp cams. they worked out the specs for a custom grind cam for me (the cam specs i just got are in my sig.) the cam has a lot more lift then that one that you showed the link to and i have stock block/heads and dont have lt's yet. i told them the mods i had and the stuff i was going to do b4 the cam (ls6 intake manifold and 3.73 gears) and also that i didnt want to have to get a tq converter. its not real big on the duration but its a dd and i dont have to have a 4k stall or anything. just an option to think about

They were talking about with stock springs. You should just get new springs and pushrods and get a bigger cam.

Can the stock springs even handle .530? I thought they were pieces of junk.

Dude, do yourself a favor and just wait till you can at least get some headers. Its always best to get all the supporting mods before cam.
Save your money and get a good exhaust first. Then go after cam, springs and pushrods............thats really all you need for a decent performer.

I am saving to get headers before a cam for sure.
