Default LS6 Head casting and identification Cam too

I was reading "how to build a high performance chevy ls1". I've decided to try the 500HP engine build and am looking for heads and cam. The book refers to two heads, gm performance part number 88958622 (11.5:1 compression) and 88958665 (10.5:1 compression). I'm under the impression that the 11.5:1 compression heads are stock 2002 and up ls6 heads. Is this correct? I want to pick some up used but what casting would identify the year of the heads? I also was looking for the gm performance parts "hot" cam (12480033) to run as a combination. Is anybody running this combination? Is it safe to use the stock pistons with this setup? Would it be safe to use a 75/100 HP shot of nitros with this combination?

Took the Part Numbers and description Strait from SDPC (sponsor) this is what they came up with In a nutshell, one is the 60cc Chamber, the other is the 65cc Chamber

anytime you wanna look up GM Part Numbers SDPC is pretty good

Price: $992.25
Part # 88958622
Best buy on the planet! Unbelievable performance from fully CNC ported cylinder heads. Some of the best low and mid-lift numbers we have ever seen from a stock size valve. These heads will flow over 200cfm at 0.300" lift and 290+ at 0.500". Fully assembled with the 2002 Z06 light-weight valves and the new '02 valve springs. These heads have been milled 0.055" to bring the combustion chambers back down to approximately 60.9cc. Care must taken to check pushrod length and proper intake installation when using these cylinder heads. Price is for each cylinder head.

and the cam too...

Price: $429.95
Part # 12480033

219/228 .525/.525 on a 112lsa, most people here call it the "not so HOT CAM" because it's pretty small. again you'd be better off finding a better and larger cam from another sponsor

The all new GM Performance HOT Cam Kit for 1997-2003 LS1 engines. 0.525" valve lift with stock 1.7 ratio rocker arms. This kit includes the 2001 LS6 valve springs to match the Hot Cam's lift and duration. Cam has a mild lope that is definitly noticable but not overwhelming. Great street cam, pulls hard in mid-range.

it also says price is PER cylinder head. in my opinion that's pretty steep, you are much better off getting a set of LS6 heads from another sponsor, ETP heads are my favorites at the moment, but pretty much any of the sponsors have good deals on great heads
