Default Max Stroke

What's the biggest stroke you can run on a stock bore with an aftermarket crank (maybe toss in a couple of options here too)? And if you do bore, I've heard that you can't do much off an LSx without sleeving it. Considering going bigger, but I don't want that expense of sleeving.

Eagle sells a 4.100", and Lunati sells a 4.125". The cheaper Eagle will give you 393? cubes and the Lunati will give you 395. This is considering a stock bore. Add 1 or 2 cubes if you move up to a 3.905 bore. The max I would ever take a LS1/6 block is 3.910" bore. Thats .012" over stock. The Eagle is the best bang for buck crank. The Lunati is max effort and 2 1/2 times the cost of the Eagle. Keep in mind that the longer stroke places more side load on the pistons, but it hasn't seemed to be a problem in the LSX motors. You could also purchase the LS2 block and use the above cranks for up to 418 cubes. LS2 blocks come with a 4" bore stock, and can be bored up to .030".

The biggest crank you can run without clearancing the block is a 3.900" crank. You have to clearance an LS1/6 block to run a 4" or bigger I am pretty sure. I may be wrong though.

You ARE wrong. I had no clearancing to do with my Lunati 4" crank. It was plug and play.

Alot of the clearancing is due to the rods hitting the bottom of the sleeves if I am notmistaken so it would have more to do with you rod thickness also.

I used a Eagle 4.100" crank and had Ross pistons make me a set to fit the crank and they work just fine ,with no clearance problems for my LS2 aluminum 418.And Diamond makes pistons to fit the 4.100 crank to. They make them for Seirl Dickey (MrEracer) for his 418's

Max effort there are various combos, however for reliability 4.00 for 382/383 would be my max choice. After that I say go for 6.0 or resleeve.
