Default Anyone with a TSP 231/237 598/595 on a 114 LSA

I got this cam installed over the weekend and when I started the car up I was surprised at how little difference there is from the stock iddleing. I mean not to say that I'm not pleased because my wife already has reservations about riding on the car with the current exhaust. But since I got the cam used, it makes me second guess whether it really is what I was told it was. It seems like the car is faster at high rpms, at least by the old buttOmeter. I was following a buddy of mine around on his older yamaha and I was staying right with him to a 140mph+. I was not reving it to the stock 6,200 rev limit because the car has not had more than a handful heat cycles. Anyway my idleing is smooth valvetrain is quiet (yella terra 1.7 shaft mounted aluminum rockers) and the car is untuned. I guess I'll take it to the dyno to verify.

Has anyone had one on a 114 LSA? What were your impressions?

I wanted to get something with at least a 114 LSA as I'm planing to go with a mild turbo setup in a year or so.

wait til u get it tuned. i wasnt very impressed once i first installed it. there was very little low end and a bit more top end. once i got it tuned raised the rev limiter i felt i got a little low end back and it pulled like a mad man.

if your going with a turbo, thats probably not the best cam to go with. It calculates out at 12* of overlap, which is quite a bit more than you really want (closer to 0* max). You might want to consider swapping that cam out when your turbo setup comes for a more turbo friendly grind. Whats a few hundred $$ when your already looking at $5k+ anyway

I took it to the dyno and found I had a problem. My HP was down 9hp from my pre-cam run. So after a closer look at the logs it look like we had a valvetrain issue. My Rockers (Yella Terra) came with a with a shim which none of the instructions said whether I needed or not so I put them in. After reading the info on the link above and the poor dyno results I figured the shim is my problem. I took them out checked that the pushrod length was correct which it was and button in back up. I still have excellent iddle, but after driving around while running my scanning tool it seems like it is running the way it is suppose to now. So tonite is back to the dyno to get it tuned.

DansRedz28 How much did your car put down?

As far as the turbo It should work fine for what I'm looking to put down @ 5# or so. But we will cross that bridge when we get to it, if a new cam will work better we'll swap it.

I'd be leary of that cam. Something doesn't sound right. I had the TSP231/237 on a 112+2lsa and it idled rough. You shouldn't have lost 9rwhp from stock cam to new cam just by a slight valvetrain issue.
