Newbie Spring Questions
I have two quick questions, do my valvesprings (918s) need to be broken in or can I install it and beat on it right way? Also do I need to shim the springs with my cam? I bought it from a member on this site, it's 224/224 at .050 with .581/.581 on a 114 LSA. I belive it is an XE-R lobed cam shaft. Thanks for the help in advance.

Don't forget he means at low RPMs and no load (Don't drive it).

Here's what I did. I finished the job up in the evening, and ran the motor for 20 minutes idling in the driveway, looking for leaks. The next day, I started it again, and after it hit 210, i looked for leaks, took it around the block at normal driving speeds, shifting at 2500. Parked it and looked for leaks again. Later that night (after it cooled down) I took it out and took it up to maybe 4K to get a feel for things. Let it cool down. Next morning took it to work and laced into it a dozen times
Id heat cycle it once at idle, then progressively drive her harder each time you take it out over the next 2 or 3 days.
