Default how high do u rev?

I'm curious what RPM some of you guys shift at. I have a Comp 224/224 and Comp beehive valve springs and hardened pushrods. I'm wondering how high I can take it and still be in the clear and making power. Right now I have the limiter set at 6600.

I usually shift around 6200 RPM on a road course because I'm not really racing and trying to achieve maximum performance. You should check with Comp Cams, and they should tell you what the safe redline should be for your combination. Conventional wisdom here is that a good dual coil spring with a more agressive cam should be good for 7000 RPM. However, this is pretty close to the bottom end limit established by the connecting rod bolts. Several guys here have replaced the stock bolts with ARP's or Katech's?? so they can run up to 7K. Lastly, if you're drag racing, you need to be a little more conservative due to stresses on the clutch when launching. There's been a couple reported instances of clutches blowing apart and coming straight up through the dash. Fortunately, they went this way instead of taking off the drivers foot! A steel bellhousing or scatter shield may be more readilly available now. Good luck.

Get it on a dyno and see where it peaks at... You won't need it much higher than that.

That's about the only true way to figure out what's best for your car IMO.

i try and shift at 7000rpm, i have a built bottom end with eagle rods, je pistons and arp rod bolts, and a 224/224-114 powered by a PTE88 turbo.
i picked up 7mph on the big end just by reving it out another 500rpm.

i shift around 6900 rpms or so, it seems to like shifting there (at least in 3rd gear since its too violent in 1st or 2nd).

Just curious, what lobes is the cam ground on and what is the LSA? I am waiting to install a 224 on a 114 LSA on XE-R lobes and want to know where you plan on shifting so I can get an idea on mine

6800 to 7000 is where I shift, but I have a bigger cam. I am pushing the limits of the stock rod bolts there.
