Default Bored: help me pick h/c setup

I am changing my setup again. I love my setup and it's VERY streetable with great power throughout the powerband. Excellent daily driver. But I want a more radical setup. So I'm changing my heads and cam. The current heads won't allow me to run a bigger cam. Remember the car is a M6 with a 4.10 gear. Cam must clear on stock bottom end with stock pistons (no reliefs).

I'm keeping the price of the heads relatively low. About what I can get out of the heads I have on now. Here's some options. Vote for one type of heads, and one cam:

Heads:
PRC LS6 style heads - milled .030 for 60cc chambers, but valves sunk .018, so is really only like .012 PTV clearance reduction)
Stock LS2 (LS6) heads unmilled, unported
Patriot LS6 style heads - 59cc or 64cc chambers
Stock LS1 heads
other (specify)

Cam:
G5X3
Trex
MS3
other (specify)

Just wanting some input here. Also tell me what specs you'd get on the cam, such as LSA, and why.

(I don't need any of the ingenius "once again" comments. I have my thoughts, but want input and want to stimulate intelligent discussion on this board. This thread can help MANY other people if handled maturely.)

I'm looking at your current cam for my Vette. Are you going to be selling it? Where does it peak out? I'm trying to keep my powerband a little lower because I don't trust the stock rod bolts....

With my current setup, torque peaks at 4900. I do plan to sell it after putting the new setup in and driving it for a week or two to make sure I like it. PM me if you wanna discuss buying it. It's a great cam. Or heck, take it and the heads and keep an awesome package together.

All the cams your looking at seem to be fairly large so you should be carefull with the PTV clearance especially with the T-rex.

As for the Heads/Cam what are you looking for in your car? Do you want the power band to stay low, or do you want peak numbers? Ive heard a lot of good things about Futral cams, if you want peak go for the F14/15 is you want TQ down low got for a smaller on like the F11 or if you wnat something in between theres also the F12, and F13.

As for heads I was looking at the Patriot 243's which seemed to flow pretty good numbers or, since Jason from TSP just posted that PRC is coming out with new versions of the 5.3L head as well as the LS6 Heads you could wait a little to see what kind of numbers they flow

can't you step up to something like the torquer 2 or similar with those heads without any ptv problems ? i ran a 228/228 on a 112 +2 with 5.3 heads milled .030 without any problems.or are you really wanting a manly cam in there like the ms3-4 or trex ?

Wanting mid/high numbers. I'm not as worried about low numbers. They're a nice bonus, but I've already got low/mid setup and it's just not what's gonna hang with my friends who I want to outrun, on those rare occasions that we hit 'em off.

For pricing please call Dave @ 908.317.4496. I am not in the posision to discuss prices.

Other mods would include all the typical bolt ons.

FAST LSX 90/90
Misier Electric Water Pump
30# Injectors
QPT 1-3/4 headers
TSP True Duals
TSP 85mm Lid + K&N

Still has the stock flywheel
Stock Pistons
Stock Block
Stock Crank
Stock Rods

That is all that would influence power I would imagine...

It is more expencive then some of the guys you mentioned in the begining of the thread. But I have yet to see any car with Patriot heads run well. I have however seen 3 cars with Patriot heads throw them away and buy CARTEK LS6 heads.
