Default best cam for DD using stock manifolds/cats

car is an '02 Corvette; owner wants a cam, but chooses to use the stock manifolds/cats, has the typical Blackwing/Borla catback; 4.10 gears are out back

car is driven daily, no track use, just looking for nice 40-60rwhp increase

I've seen the Thunder cam for this setup, but have never driven/heard that particular grind

I've never used the stock manifolds with a bigger cam, anyone have good results with a similar combo?

thanks

You were looking in the right place. The Thunder Racing CheaTR cam was designed specifically to make big power with stock manifolds and cats. I made 411 rwhp with stock manifolds and cats running this cam (on motor). Jason 99T/A made even more. It's a great cam with a broad range of power and excellent street manners.

The specs are 215/230 .600/.578 117LSA.

CheaTR plus adequate valvetrain.

PatG should be able to convince you on that one, in case you are uncertain.

Actually, the CheaTR is not an LSK lobe. It's Thunder's own lobe from Comp, but it's closest to an XFI lobe.

What springs do you recommend with this cam?

Manley duals or anything rated up to a .650 lift. Comp 921 are the best but cost $$.

Patriot/PRC/Manley duals are plenty good as long as you shim them to within .050" of coil bind. Geoff Skinner has over 40k miles on this cam with Manley duals.
