Any gains going to lq4,lq9 heads?
I already installed a set of lq4 heads to lower my compression for FI. I won't be doing the charger for a few months so I'm going to have it dyno tuned on wednesday. Just wanted to get an idea on what to expect. Some people say I'll lose power from the larger 72cc(lower compression) but I gotta say, my first test drive seemed very strong. It's not tuned yet so I haven't driven it much but it seemed to break the tires loose easier than before. I was making 407rwhp and 374rwtq before the head swap with my F14 cam only set-up. Any guesses on what it might do on the dyno after the tune?
Just noticed I posted in the wrong forum, if a mod wants to move it to internal, that would be good.

The intake and exhaust port volumes are the same as the LS6 heads. So that's a plus.
But the combustion chamber volume is a good deal more lowering your compression to about 9.4:1 and with the F14 it hurts your dynamic compression bad too.
Overall I think you'll end up a little behind where you were.
Just get that procharger on there, but the F14 won't go too well with it. (Too much overlap.)

The only reason I'm not to worried about the F14 with the charger is because I'm not concered with getting the most out of the set-up while I still have the stock bottom end. Hopefully with the extra blow-by from the overlap, I won't be putting as much stress on the block. May not make as much power but with the lower compression and the large overlap, I might have a good chance of making a somewhat reliable 550-600rwhp. At least thats my plan I'm shooting for a mid to low 10 sec car that won't blow the engine after a few passes.

If anyones interested, I picked up 2 rwhp and 3 rwtq. Nothing to get excited about but considering I thought I was going to lose power, I'm pretty happy. Now I just need to get a blower straped on and then I might have something to be excited about.
