I would think they should spin....at least older starters would. On a side not I have a starter with a bad selenoid (the terminal was damaged removing it) but the starter worked fine. let me know if you need it. Pay for shipping and some extra for lunch and latte and its yours

Just from the number of tries I would think you're doing something wrong but....when you apply voltage to the solenoid and the plunger energizes like you saw, it closes the contacts and sends voltage to the starter. The other terminal on the solenoid gets ground from the BCM.

Try applying voltage directly to the terminal going to the starter motor itself.

- nevermind, figured it out. It had been a while since I had seen the starter wired up in the car.
