TR224 vs Cheatr
I've spoken to the guys at Thunder and been told that these cams make similar power, however I've heard of guys making 430rwhp with the TR224 and max around 410 with the Cheatr. Also the dyno on thunder's site has a 224 doing almost the same within 10rwhp of a head and cam cheatr package. Anyone with experiences, races, track times, kill stories, please chime in.

I'm assuming you are talking about a TR 224/224 .581/.581 112 LSA in a 6-speed, as I doubt there are many .563/.563 112 or 114 making 430 with that cam. With the correct boltons and a heck of a tune you could probably make 430 to the wheels with the TR224, but its a stretch, that is if you are talking about cam only, if not, I can see it with heads. The CheaTR is a great cam for stealth and won't lope like the TR224, making the cam almost undectectable at idle, but making great power up top. It really depends on your goal, do you want a loping, loud, motor shaking beast, or a more subtle, less loud, less loping, less motor shaking assassin?

i was going through the same thing before i got lts. i ended up choosing to go ahead and get lts and the 224 with a 112 even with an auto. i wanted it to lope and i dont think it would have with a 114 lsa. i dont have any dyno numbers yet though.

My cheatr/ls6 ported head pkg makes 404, but the shop has to go back and pull the timing cover anyway, so I was thinking of having them put in a TR224. The cheatr even through headers sounds about like stock. My friends don't know that I've changed the car. The problem is... it's so much like stock until I can barely tell the difference unless I'm at WOT. I was probably at about 330rwhp with headers and lid before the install. I'm betting I'll trap around 113 or so. But with the 430/413 torque like RrCox22 I should have an easy 11 sec cobra eating monster.

Don't want to hyjack this thead, but I am trying to make the same decition as RealLiveMD. I have shorty headers (which I guess are the same as stock), and I've decided to cam it, but can't decide between the 224 and the CheatR. Will the CheatR actually make more power with shorties because it's designed around them, or is it just better to go bigger with the 224?
