Best Heads For LS2 402 Stroker

What are the best heads for the LS2 stroker and WHY? 2 Categories:1. Good streetable HP and TQ with a 220/224 cam? Intended use-blasting the road racing course and hauling *** in general. 2.Best value? And, to make this interesting, what about the LS7 head-will it fit?
Opinions please

The ls7 head will not fit because of the valve size. the ET ls7 head will, if you get the version made for a 4 inch bore.
With a cam as small as you are planning to run, you're most likly gonna be best off with a small chambered head, because with a cam of the durationb you plan to run the motor will run out of steam at a relativly early rpm, so a head with good velocity will probably work best. I'd suggest a set of the 215 or 225 et heads, or possibly the 215 trickflow, 205 afr's or the 205 edlebrocks.

I just had a customer with a 402 that had made 470 with a PP head, then got some other heads that didn't make it to the dyno before they broke, and then ordered the new TFS 225 head and made 550 RHWP, I think there will be a post on them shortly. The business was Sunshine Performance.

AFR 225's and LS2 strokers go together like baseball and hot dogs (with a beer of course).
Seriously, AFR 225's have been extremely consistant in their abilities to deliver solid results....especially on the more well thought out combinations which will always be the case. The average results are above average with some real good results in the mix as well.
Spending some time doing a search will certainly back up what might be dismissed as a "tainted" opinion.
Feel free to contact me if your considering moving in that direction....

Hey Tooley, instead of bashing all other head manufactures why don't you just let your heads speak for themselves?

Launching!
for what he is describing it doesnt seem like he would benefit from big runners like 240 or 245's. at the same time he might be choking the motor with 205 or 215's. with a small cam(especially for a big cube motor) seems like you would be best off with a 225 head. you may not make as much peak but seems like it should better mid range for your application.

ZO6er,
Since you said that you want to blast around a road racing course (not the quarter mile) and good streetable HP & Torque; I think that you might want to consider some smaller intake runner volume heads (like in the region of 200 to 215). The 220/224 cam might be fine, but again you might want to consider something a little smaller in duration (like 216/224 with about a 114 LSA). As I see it, you are mainly interested in torque production in the 3,000 to 6,000 RPM range with your stated goals.

what do the AFR 225's flow out of the box? from talking to some people they seem to think it is less than some PRC heads....i think someone told me ~305cfm @ .600 lift max and i was flabbergasted b/c i thought those afr's flowed upwards of 330cfm out of the box.

In the original post, he mentioned he was building a stroker LS2 with a fairly small camshaft. To feed a big engine with a small camshaft you better have a good sized cylinder head on there.
