what can I spin a forged 383 too!
I'm getting a new forged 383(eagle crank,h-beam rods, diamond pistons) with all the goodies on top! What kinda rpm can you run on a forged motor vs. a stock bottom end( I spun the stock shortblock to 6700rpm) can I safely take it to 7100-7200+???
thanks for the input!

Have you looked at a dyno chart of your car to see if your car was even still making power at that rpm? If your car peaks 5800 or so, then flat lines to 6300 or so, why spin to 6800? You'll be faster by shifting before the car hits the down fall. A forged 383 with a nice heads/cam package will probablly nose over before 7k as well. You need to be running pretty healthly heads and cam before actually making power at 71-7300 rpms.

My peak HP is at 6600 RPM, and I give it just a touch more before I shift. My cam's not all that big, either. Check the link to the dyno sheet in my sig for more info.

I'm running forced induction and stage 2 ls6 heads that flow a little over 300... the cam is a custom FI (600/607 230/232 114 lsa) It made it's peak power @ 6700rpm with the stock shortblock, but I'm sure that's because of the blower making more boost at a higher rpm.
What I'm asking is in general can you spin forged engines higher in the rpm range than stock engines!
