Yes I suspect it is physically possible. But in reality I highly doubt it would be anywhere near streetable, usable or reliable.
Specific out, as in bhp per litre is a good guesstimate.
A properly decent h/c bolt on Ls1 can make 480rwhp for street use on a Dynojet. This is somewhere in the region of 449rwhp SAE on a Mustang Dyno, and means the engine if rated to FULL SAE Net standards would likely be around 500-530bhp SAE Net.
This means 530 / 5.7 litres = 92.9bhp/litre
For an OHV push rod V8 this is a superb figure. Most older OHV V8's won't get anywhere near this and still be streetable.
But to achieve 625bhp (625 / 5.7 = 109.6bhp/litre) you would need to run a much higher specific output.
This number is attainable, but I would imagine it would be circuit use only.
Larger displacement would be much easier. Using the same state of tune that is known to work 92.9bhp/litre we can work out what size engine would be required.
625bhp / 92.9 = 6.73 litres
So a 408ci running the same state of tune (specific output) should be able to make that number and be streetable and reliable.

sounds good, so it needs to be stroked, now, what crank kits do you guys like?
can an ls-1 be stroked to 408 or about without re sleeving?
so stroke it, put a ported or afr head onit with a .600 or so lift cam with dur in the high 230's at 50, and its there?
thanks for the help, this will be the first lsx motor i have had, i have always had old school small blocksand big blocks
thanks, let me know some combos that people have done and have dynoed, i tried searching but did not find much, i may have been looking in the wrong spot

motor
thanks guys
its not a daily driver, its a streetfighter 68 camaro its going in, and will be used hard on the street and at the road race course etc, car has a 3 link rear, custom front sbframe etc, so it can be alittle tempermental, i was going to put a 409 chevy bb in it , that had afr heads, 11-1, solid roller .710 lift, 262/266 dur @.50 on a 110, but at 360 lbs you can't beat a lsx.
say i kept the 347, what could it do for hp/tq qith ported heads, and a nice cam?

A friend has a Z06 with MTIs 427 package, it makes over 550+ at the wheels, perfectly streetable, drives over 135 miles on weekends from his house to mine. (gotta be over 625 flywheel Id think.) Cant argue with 130mph trap speeds on motor!

There are quite a few different combo's, do a SEARCH in this forum. Other option is to buy a 408ci long or short block. TSP sells them, they are cast iron using the LQ9 as a bases. If you want aluminium then they also sell a LS2 based 402ci.
But as mentioned, boost maywell be a sensible idea. Forged internals a few bolt ons and FI would be easy to make 650rwhp, so well over 700bhp. And probably for less money also.

Launching!
look into a long from a sponsor like LME, heads from someone like afr, tea, etp and you can make 500 to 550 at the wheels. that should put you pretty close to your goal of 625 flywheel. you will need all the supporting stuff like fast intake, headers etc etc.
expected cost 7-8,000 just guessing.

I got 850 out of my C5R block and heads setup. Vengeance Racing. They are actually trying to get another 100fwhp out of it as we speak.
