Default Can I wait for a tune?

Will I damage anything without a tune yet?

I just installed a 224/224 114 cam, AFR 205's, lifters, oil pump, all that stuff.

Yet to be installed is LT headers/exhaust, and 3600 torque converter

I know I will not be getting the most out of the engine, but can I safely drive around town for a while until I install the rest of my parts?

edit: search was down.....

I wouldn't rev over 3500 if I were you just to be on the safe side. Some might tell you otherwise but it's better to be safe than sorry. I would get a tune after the headers and converter go in...if that's coming up soon.

i have the 224/224/ .581 114 cam and the tune was supposed to get here today but didn't make it. It doesn't idle for **** so I have had it parked, mine was a complete motor swap though.

One of my buddies put a set of ported 5.3 heads and a 236/236 .595"/.595" cam in his car and has been running the dog out of his for atleast a year, spraying it, track passes, street racing, etc. It is still together. Yea I mean It would probably pick up a lot with a tune but the point is it still runs and runs good. As a matter of fact he is a member of this board.
