cam dagree
Hey guys we just installed a cam 224/228 535/544 112 on his 2000 Z/28.
The rockers on #8 broke off and were just lying in the head, so we pull the head and there is notchs in the piston/marks on teh exhaust valve We lined this thing up DOT to DOT stock timmig chain. His Tunner (Ed Wright) to him the cam needs to be dagreed. Is this right ? If so how do we do it.
Also we where told to check piston to valve clerance
any idea's
TIA
Derek

Sounds like a huge nightmare!

Other things that come to mind:
Are the pistons toast? Valve guides and valve(s) (bent)? Springs have sufficient bind clearance?

If it's a Comp Cam, the lobe number and and LSA are etched in the front of the cam. you can look up the lobe on Comps website and see if the specs match the cam card info. Maybe the wrong cam got in the wrong box. Degreeing the cam will tell you for sure what you have. Degreeing the cam is always a good idea. PredatorZ, a guy with way more knowledge than myself, convinced me to do it, and I'm glad I did. The cam had +4* advance ground in, but was not stated on the cam card. I hope everything turns out OK for you.
