Default How much power would be lost with 6,000rpm shift points?

Just wondering how much power I would be losing having my shift points set to 6k on my heads/cam ls1? I'm doing this to drag out the life of the stock 4l60e. Thanks for the help!

It all depends on what your peaking at. Some of the cams will peak alot lower than others.

Default 6K shift???

The C5 Vette with a LS1 and a 4L60 has a 4K shift point stock. Works for me. Chuck.

Yeah you are definately losing power by shifting that early. I don't see why your afraid to shift higher. On my previous car which was an a4, I shifted the little 225/225 cam at 6500 with the limiter set to 6800. I had no problems.

That cam should peak somewhere around 6200-6400ish depending on what LSA you have it on. Do you have a graph I could look at? The general rule of thumb for an auto would be to have it shift ~400 rpms higher than where your peak hp occurs. I would have it shifting at 6500-6600 without even seeing the graph.

The graph is on the first page of the dyno section in the thread about the torquer v3 made by Brian @ Texas-Speed. I changed to the v3, but my goal remains the same. I want to put the shift points at 6k so that the stock transmission lasts longer. Power doesn't kill them, high RPM's do.

i'm with brian, anything shy of 6500-6700 you will be losing quite a bit.peak hp will be atleast 6300-6400 and shifting that early you are dropping way below your optimum rpm range.only one real way to tell = hit the strip with 6500-6700 shift points atleast once and see.
