Question How much do pistons weigh?

Just wondering how much a typical off the shelf piston weighs.

Thanks for the link. They're saying a stock piston only weighs 1.3 pounds (600 grams)?? Wow. For some reason I thought they would weigh more than that. However, I don't see any information on Diamond pistons. Anyone have any info on those?

Depends on bore size, compression height (determined by stroke and rod length), etc., etc. but the bottom line is that an "average" aftermarket piston will weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 370-400 grams....a little less than 1 lb. Note this weight does not include the wrist pin which is about 110-120 grams. Stock weighs about 425 grams btw....

Hope this helps...

Tony

I had no idea aftermarket pistons/cranks were that much lighter. I learn something new every day. Thanks for the info guys.

My 427 Diamond pistons were about 450 grams each IIRC.
