I've missed 4th, shifting into 2nd going about 90mph. Didn't cause any imeadiate damage, but about six months later I had bent pushrods. Got those replace by the dealership with stock ones and about a month later, broke a pushrod in half just driving down the street. (final cause to all this was valve float due to week valve springs)

I just kinda wish they had a light on the dash with your gear selection, maybe you could get lucky anad check it before you let the clutch out. I know if I miss a shift with 4.56s it wont be pretty

I am glad to know I am not alone. I have went to 2nd trying to shift to 4th several times. Last time at the track I did it 3 times. It sucks. I am just glad it did not mess anything up.

I did the 6th to 2nd in my 04 cts-v @ about 100.... I felt like a dog that hit the end of his chain.... timing was perfect to since it was when i was racing a Mach I.... but he really shat himself when he saw a 2 ton car pull away... once a actually hit the right gear

Missing shifts at hi RPM, and getting away with no valvetrain damage is "lottery-hitting" type luck. A mechanically-induced over-rev, caused by a blown shift, cannot be controlled via the rev-limiter.

I have gone from 3rd to 2nd, trying for 4th a numerous amount of times. Yes I have bent pushrods too. My buddy did the same thing to his T/A and he bent a pushrod soooo bad that I had to unbend it just alittle to remove it. I figured out a way to avoid shifting into the wrong gear like that(3rd to 2nd). I will try to explain it but it might not make sence. OK, I used to have my hand on the shifter like the normal way(basically finger nails facing the driver) If you think about it, when you go to hit 4th gear, you tend to pull down and alittle towards yourself. Flip your arm the other way(so your arm is backwards kinda and your finger nails will be facing the passenger) This way, makes it near impossible to pull toward yourself, and it actually is alot easier to do once you get used to it. Try it out sometime, it really works.

I missed third once while going pretty fast. Went into first on accident. Felt like I crashed my car into a wall. I caught it super fast though and clutched in just as the tach went past the redline. Nothing broke. Ive never missed a gear since.

once I went from 1 - 2 - 1! But I kicked in clutch as soon as I realized( which as rather fast, cuz I dodnt hit the rev limiter) But I never felt like I crashed my car into a wall, as some described.
Also yesterday I was gonna make my best run, because I had the best 330' of all my runs 5.2XX but I missed 3rd at the end and hit the rev limiter!!!

Did the 2-3-2 number racing my friends big block chevelle on the interstate. Got the clutch right back in before there was any mechanical over-rev damage at least, but the resulting shock did break the trans mount. I've done it once since then (next time at the track) but I replaced the stock mount with an Energty Suspension one, so no damage.

One of the things I did while doing my 383 stroker, was to replace the Hurst shifter with a Pro 5.0. I also went with a Spec Stage IV clutch, and billet steel flywheel.
Anyway, I absolutely LOVE the Pro 5.0 shifter. I've been told that the $325.00 Hurst shifter (RPO BBS option for '02) is a good unit. Compared to the Pro 5.0, the Hurst felt like bending a stiff piece of rubber while shifting. The Pro 5.0 feels SO much more positive! Coming out of 2nd, the shifter practically whips itself across the neutral gate, and is ready to slam 3rd. It's almost like it shifts itself.
I do have to say that it was a no-good, rotten, turn-the-air-blue-with-swearing, PITA to install (I want to meet the genius who decided to hide the heads of the 7mm sheet metal screws that secure the rubber boot over the shifter cut-out in the trans tunnel, with the carpet...I had to partially disassemble the console to get the damn thing in), but it was definitely one of those mods that was a definite improvement.

I just took the console completely out of my car . lot easier that way
I went 3rd to 2nd even with the pro 5.0. oh well I got the clutch in fast no damage. thought I snapped the weakling {10 bolt} . I think Im changing the name pro 5.7 sounds better
