Default What motor to Buy?

I have a 2001 Z06. It has a D1 procharger on it with the twin ic's, 8 rib setup, shorty headers, full exhaust, no cats, snow meth inj, upgraded fuel pump and injs. Had some problems with the motor. Found out I had low compression on cyls 3,5,7. Had the head pulled off and the block is good, bad ringlands. The guy who has the car said I would be better off selling the motor outright as a full longblock and getting a fully forged motor. We talked about what size to go in C.I. and I was kind of set on a 408 with a iron block.

This car is by no means a track car, I just want something fun and as reliable as you can get. My WHP goals are around 750 to 800. I know that sounds more then what anybody needs to just have fun but its my goal. I still need to upgrade my fuel even more if I want to reach those numbers along with other drivetrain parts, but for now I am looking for the best combo of C.I.s for my D1. Procharger says It should run up to 14lbs efficiently. So without changing out my headunit I'm asking should I go 347ci, 370ci, 383ci, 402ci, 408ci, or any other C.I. motors out there to achieve my goal.

I already have a 408 complete iron longblock from texas speed ready to drop in priced out. I'm going with eagle crank, diamond pistons, scat rods, upgraded ARP bolts and studs, 6.0l heads and the bacis parts that come in the complete longblock assembly, Priced around 7800.00 with shipping. Need to stay in that ball pard or cheaper.

Also looking at If I ever sell the car what motor people would also prefer for Forced Induction? Any suggestions would be of great help.

Thanks Chris

That seems pricey for a iron block'd GM head'd longblock. I'd stick with an aluminum block LS2 402 stroker. More balanced package for a 'Vette.
