Help pick internals for nitrous 347
Motor made 420rwhp/400rwtq with the cutout closed and the LS6 intake. Will have a ported FAST 90/90 or PP85/85 by spring, so I'm figuring it will make 450-460rwhp on motor. The motor is smoking quite a bit in the upper RPMs and I'm losing some oil, amount varying based on how hard I drive the car.
Anyways, looking to rebuild this motor over the winter to handle a fire-hose shot of nitrous. It will be a direct port kit, and more than likely progressive. I want to be safe to about a 300-shot. More than likely won't ever run that high, or at least not very often at all, but would like to be safe to those levels. I have a t56rebuilds.com trans "guaranteed" to 700rwhp and a Moser 12-bolt.
That should be well within the means of the stock crank from what I understand. I know nitrous shocks the internals harder than forced induction, but I was hoping the progressive controller would help that a bit.
Will be getting line honed to accept ARP main studs. I recently replaced the rod and cam bearings in the motor, but will obviously be replacing them again with this build. Motor will get honed out to 3.903/3.905 depending on piston. Block has only 30k miles on it. If I stay with the current cam, it peaks power around 6200 and my shiftlight is set at 6300, so I'm shifting around 6500 or so. With the new intake, I expect those numbers to jump another 100rpm or so. I plan on getting the assembly balanced out to 7500 or so to accomodate a larger cam in the future.
I need to pick some pistons, rods, and rings for the setup. Want to keep compression where its at with flat tops. The heads I have put the compression a tad above 11, but I may go with -2cc pistons to allow me to use a thinner head gasket to improve quench.
Speed Inc gave me a price of $1345 for Diamond pistons ($565), Eagle H-beam rods ($600), and $180 for rings (unknown make/model). I do not plan to buy anything through them, they just happened to be the only number I had in my phone at work today.
I'm curious as to what anyone else recommends. For the price they gave me for the Eagle rods, I think I could get my hands on a set of Callies Compstars or Lunati Pro Mods. I don't mind spending a little bit more to buy some better pistons if anyone thinks I should go with something like JE or something instead, though I have heard nothing but good of Diamonds.
Also, I don't know much about which rings to go for. Are there rings specific for nitrous applications? Do metric or standard rings seal better? I've heard people say one does better than the other, but I don't remember which.

Had planned on leaving it alone. From what I've read, 800-900rwhp seems to be the gray area, with some people hitting 1000rwhp on it. Since I shouldn't be anywhere near 800rwhp, I wasn't concerned.
Car will not be receiving a full cage (roll bar and SFCs yes, but not full cage), so I'll never be able to use that kind of power on the track, and I won't really be able to use it on the street either, lol. I just want to have the ability

i've heard both the wiseco and diamonds are great for f/i or big shots so either would be a good decision. as for rods the eagles would probably be enough but the lunati or callies seem to be alittle stronger.

I have diamond pistons with -2cc valve reliefs on a 250 shot a couple times and they held up fine. My motor was also setup to handle a 300 shot but was scared to go that high.
