Which 6.0 should I build?
this is my first choice:
I can get a LQ4 out of an 02 2500 for $1800. Complete from pan to intake with wiring harness and all accessories. put in higher compression pistons, maybe rods. Heard the stock cranks can handle the hp as long as the entire assembly has been balanced well.
Second choice is get a bare block and find used rotating assembly out of the for sale section. Problem there is I will have to put it together. the plus is i can probably find some forged parts that others are selling.
Motor is going into a 68 camaro so I want to get camaro or corvette accesories and a LS6 intake. With either combo I will be changing cams and trying to get the compression up as much as possible. I've heard of people making good hp on the 317 heads so I will probably keep them, put in the patriot springs, use the stock valves and spend the money for other heads on a n20 kit. at least a 150 shot. this is going to be on an incredibly small budget. this made me throw out the 408 idea, ha. gonna call some cam company's and get their opinions. I really like the MS3 but don't know if it will be to big. Any opinions greatly apprieciated.

If the LQ4 is in good shape, that might be your cheapest route. The 317's flow very similar to the 243's. The MS3 shouldn't be too big. You could get some Flat tops, and even mill those 317's some and have a nice setup even on a budget.

you can get complete LQ4s for cheaper, i found several for 1000
for $1800 it should come with a trans and only have less than 10k miles on it
switch the pistons, leave stock rods, stock crank, do katech rod bolts, LS2 timing chain, ported LS6 pump. whatever cam you like. with forged pistons you could shoot a 400 shot and still be fine.

Well the $1800 was from a south GA junkyard. I've been searching ebay and this website. I can find some cheaper motors but the shipping really burns me up so I'm still about the same price. Do you think I should use the stock harness and send it to speartech or somebody like him? Or would you go with the painless kit. I think it starts at $400. which pistons would you recommend. I've seen that most people on here like the diamond or wiesco. I know they are expensive though.

OK then. I'll probably go with the wiesco cause I've heard the best things about them. Especially when n2o is used. Who would be the best person to send the wiring harness to get redone.
