Yes and no. By stock do you mean stock heads (ie springs, retainers, etc..)? If that is the question, then no. You have to use a spring that can handle the lift of the cam. If you buy the cam in a "cam kit" you will get about everything you need to do the job. If you mean stock bottom end, then yes. The search button is your frined.

Is this cam to much for a daily driver and long trips 200 to 300 miles each way?

No way would i use 918's on that cam, just to be safe go with PRC dual coils. And some chromoly hardened pushrods. My friend has a car with basically the exact same mods as me, and he runs this cam. So he's you can. But not without the basics for cam swaps. Meaning, you can't just take your cam out and this one in. But with basics such as springs, pushrods you can. And on the long trip question i'd say no it's not too much, i drive 100+ miles each way everyweekend to purdue and i get great gas mileage if that's what your asking that question for. I would also suggest a tune. Actually it's a must, but i wouldn't do the cam before i had an ls6 intake, full exhaust lid etc. do it right is what i'm suggesting. I've been where you are, you want to cam it really badly but trust me it's better to do it right and save up!

That cam will be fine for a daily driver, or long trips with a decent tune. I drive a similar sized cam 700 miles a week with no regrets at all. 233/239 .595/.603 113lsa. I love it.

I too run a similar cam 232/236 595 601 114.. i drive my car @ least 150mi. everyday, still got around 19-20mpg on my stalled A4...Car is down now, but i will put this cam back in the new motor..

I say go for it,,, change the springs, retainers ( titanium),locks... call it a day..
Insure that the cam is degreed when installed...& as stated above.. A Good Tune is a must...

I run the G5x2 cam in my stock bottom end motor. I have the Patriot Gold dual springs though which a spring capable of holding the cams lift is possible. I put down 426/394 cam only, and best ET was 12.4 @ 114 spinning with a 2.3 60'. I spun real bad.

I think that's what your looking for. No flycutting was needed, no problems, just pop it in, and get it tuned. Great cam I love it to death, and drive mine a great deal, not just on weekends.

Why wouldn't it pass? Or better which part failed HC's or other? Thinking of this cam or the X3 in my 02Z Thanks, Don
