Default 228/232 in a 346 = what in a 402?

What would be the equivalent cam to feed a 402 compared to a 228/232 in a 346? Hope this makes sense.

General rule of thumb is to add 8 degrees for every 50 cubic inches of displacement increase. That means you should add 9-10 degrees for a 402-408.

A 238/242 would be equivalent.

Great, so a 238/242 cam would give a very similar powerband to a 402 that a 228/232 would do in a 346? That was what I was getting at. Just contemplating future plans.

I didn't know that. Good info. Funny cause im my 346 I had a 233 / 239 and now with a 427 im gonna have a 248 / 254 which is almost exactly on the money if I wanted to be on par with the old motor cam wise.
