Default Kaboom

I had the motor come apart around 7000rpm in 4th gear last night... pretty interesting damage. lol. It was a full bolton, trex, valvetrain, big nitrous hit motor, though it was not being sprayed when it came apart.

Here we are peeping into the intake manifold at during teardown. I usually don't keep this much metal in there.

A nice shot of the valley.... yes, that is part of the rod laying there and yes, it broke the cam.

Head gasket is still good! No, the valve didn't drop... it got straight broken off.

hrm... where'd the rod and piston go? Weird. The rod bearing is still perfect, though. ;-)

It looks like it wasn't a rod bolt issue at all. The rods themselves were stretching and it came apart at the neck. I guess rod bolts wouldn't have saved me after all.
