Default Aftermarket Casting With Trex w/o Flycutting?

Stock milled 241's, 243's I understand will work without flycutting but what other aftermarket castings will not have PTV clearance problems? Trying to get an understanding of my options.

Well, the Dart 205s give up .015" free drop. For most applications they work well being they have similar PTV clearance as a 241, BUT with a 62cc chamber and a 2.02" valve.

In your case, you'd probably be pushing it too close with the TRex. So, I'd say that Dart 205s wouldn't work.

Could you just notch your pistons? If you have to pull a head off in the future and get it decked for some reason you might be back in the same boat of worrying about PTV clearance.

I'd rather notch my pistons and then pick the head I wanted instead of my cam picking the heads for me. Even still, those trick flows wouldn't be bad.

ya i've been leaning toward the trick flows so far... as they practically match up to AFR's throughout the band

Why not just flycut? Don't have an extra 20 minutes or something?

Skilled? Do you even know what it entails? You put a little rod through the valve guide on an old head. Pop the cutting tool head on it. Set the collar to your desired depth. Put drill on end of tool rod. Pull trigger and push down lightly until desired depth is reached. Basically, I'm training my golden retriever to do it.

I say this because we just flycut my car this past week. It's simple. Too simple. I'm basically a big ***** for being scared to do it long ago.
