228R and AFR 205 heads
I have 228R on a 112LSA and +2 of advance. Can I run this cam on a set of milled AFR 205 heads without having to cut my pistons? Also how much can I mill off the heads (I run 91 octane fuel)?
Thanks
Thanks

Hmmm, who knows now! There is a debate that a 234/242 cam can fit under 59cc AFR 205's with .040 (as per Lou at LGM) ??
Although when I spoke to Tony Mamo in the past he said that anything over a 228 would not fit (with safe margins).
I just PMd Tony to find out for sure and how much PTV does a 205 have over stock LS1.

As quoted from Tony Mamo:
Free Drop info as follows:
Stock LS6 head @ 65 cc's .160 (with thin margin, lightweight factory valve)
AFR 205 @ 66 cc's (PN 1510) .176 (a little more than stock offering additional P to V)
AFR 225 "small bore" @ 65 cc's (PN 1660) .114 (obviously a fair amount less than stock)
AFR 225 "large chamber" @ 72 cc's (PN 1630) .147 (close to factory spec)
With a .030 milled AFR 205 and a .040 cometic, Tony said a 228/232 on a 114 would be tight but it would work. On a 112, he was very concerned.
No mill puts you @ 8.47:1 DCR with a .040 head gasket. Without milling the heads it should clear just fine.

Yep, that's what it did.
The red and blue lines are the first tune, and it drops down to 10.00 AFR as soon as there is load.
The green and black lines are another tune I up loaded for SD, and it went real rich and dropped to 10.75
Looks like the car has more work on the tuning side.

Keep me posted on results. I am running same cam & heads with Dynatech. Curious to see what you can gain by getting AFR inline. Seems like 440 is doable with this setup.
