Default EDELBROCK cam lobes for LSX

Just out of curiosity, are they proprietary or maybe CRANE?

don't know about whose cores they use, but a company called EPW grinds 90% of there camshafts. there LS1 stuff isn't that aggresive from what I've seen. edelbrock has always been pretty conservitive on there cams.

I was taking a walk through their site and I came across 2 cams offered for LSx.
I like their valve events though, well thought of BTW
2215- 220/224, .510/.510 111/108 LSA/ICL
2216- 230/237 .540/.540 110/106 LSA/ICL

slap a set of 1.8/1.85 on those and you have a bit more on the table.

I like the 2215, I bet with their 200cc heads it would make some decent power with a bit of tenderness on the valvetrain.
Add their carb intake setup with MSD ignition box and you have a decent street rod motor, easily in the 450/475 fhp range with no tuning guru needed.

I agree a 1.8 rocker would be good there.

With a 1.85 ratio rocker on there, the big cam might have a degree or so more at .050 and around .588 lift. Still kind of low for lift these days, but the ramp rates would be considerably more agressive than they were. Might make for a nice cam for someone who's already upgraded to a higher ratio rocker but now wants a cam.

What about the seat duration? Just seems really lazy compared to comp's stuff.

seat duration would be the same. the higher ratio rockers will read .050 sooner though.

I understand the rocker ratio. What I'm asking about is the huge advertised duration numbers that edelbrock's cams have. I answered a question another forum member had in this thread but nobody responded. Since I know you guys know your stuff, maybe you can chime in...
Code:
            Adv. Dur. | .050 Dur.
P/N: 2215 300* 300*| 220* 224* 111 +3
P/N: 2216 314* 322*| 230* 237* 110 +4
I didn't bother putting in the VE's listed on their website, as they are in the PDF that I linked to, but they do look good at .050 lift. Those advertised durations are so much larger than I've seen, it just seems the ramps on those lobes must be really slow off and back onto the seat. Even Comps' mildest lobes are much shorter advertised.
Code:
        Adv. Dur. | .050 Dur. | .200 Dur
lobe: 3767 274* | 220* | 134*
lobe: 3753 278* | 224* | 138*

lobe: 3713 273* | 220* | 138*
lobe: 3715 277* | 224* | 142*

lobe: 3720 269* | 220* | 143*
lobe: 3722 273* | 224* | 146*
The edelbrock lobes have anywhere from 26 to 31 degrees more duration for the same duration at .050". It would seem that would increase overlap (some), but it might also delay the intake valve closing point and bleed off cylinder pressure.

Any thoughts?

Default Edelbrock cam

Hammertime,
It was my thread you answered. Thanks. I have not gone further because I have hood clearance problems on the Toyota truck install. In fact the cam and intake are listed for sale in the Parts For Sale forum. I wish we could have tested the cam to answer some of these questions. Mac
